Weekly Summaries- Character Research- Week 4

 Weekly Summaries- Character Research

Week 4: (20.10.17)
What I learnt:
Today’s session consisted around the theme of ‘Unstill Life’. Making characters look Neuteong (baby like), making characters reach the ‘Uncanny’. We find artificial things that are made “too realistic” and life-like uncomfortable. The uncanny Valley is strange, mysterious and weird.
Suggested for our research, we should look at walk cycles, character clothing, character interactions, speed/ weight, mise en scene and movement. Our essay should be 10% introduction, 80% body of essay and 10% conclusion. Ignore subjective statements.
Progress this week:

This week I researched into articles on the internet that discuss of Frozen’s popularity ‘They're being swept up in an obsession that, echoing my own childhood fixations, feels both communal and deeply personal. Better still, the object of the obsession has powerful things to say about sisterhood, storytelling, adolescence and female autonomy.'  I also figured out what I would like my essay question to be: In the popularity of the film ‘Frozen’- (2013-US-Disney-Dir Christopher Buck & Jenifer Lee), analyse the successful qualities and attributes of the character ‘Elsa’ that enables the audience to empathises with her.
